An exhibit created with NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo’s three daughters in mind opened during March 2012 at the state Capitol building in Albany, NY. The exhibit is now over. The press release announcing the exhibit honoring prominent New York State women noted Andrew Cuomo’s remarks: “As the father of three daughters, I believe it’s important for our young people to learn about the incredible accomplishments of these New York women. The women profiled in the exhibit should serve as examples for the next generation, and I hope it will inspire New Yorkers to learn more about the state’s progressive history and the women who led the way.” See press release. New York women were highlighted in a variety of categories, of which woman’s suffrage was one. The suffrage wagon used by Edna Buckman Kearns primarily on Long Island and in New York City in preparation for the 1915 state referendum campaign had a prominent position in the exhibition.
