This volunteer project has been supported by many people over the years. They have included family members, organizations, friends, and supporters. This process has gone on so long that it has been the part of a long process of donations and offerings of love and appreciation. Many people have donated time, energy, research assistance, and support delivered in a variety of ways. They have been thanked and double thanked in the pages of the book about Edna Kearns published by SUNY Press.
The suffrage organizing for support has never been a lucrative financial success. This is why we have done it ourselves. “I remember when even literary agents wouldn’t even read a suffrage related story in manuscript form because they claimed it offered no support and profit,” says Marguerite Kearns. “I made lots of optimistic promises, but many of the same outcomes prevailed.”
“Stories about those behind the scenes, like Edna Buckman Kearns, was part of this tradition. We tried hard, and succeeded in some ways, and not in other ways. But our persistence and courage prevailed.”
