If I were to grade the public relations efforts of those gathering support for our nation’s 250th birthday, I would give them a zero at the present time. You’d think that the nation’s women liked only ringing bells. That may be true, but only partially.

The women identifying with the women’s suffrage movement loved liberty bells and replicas that were dragged out of storage with exhibition close to the annual celebration every July 4th. And they also used liberty bells to tie to their effort to win the right to vote for American women. It’s not too late for the organizing committee to tell the truth about the 19th amendment to the US Constitution won in 1920 and include an enormous THANK YOU for those involved.

This could be a major shift in discussing the nation’s accomplishments.
