What was it like for the residents of Long Island (outside of New York City) when the Brits took over political control of New York City and Long Island following the Battle of Long Island in 1777? The colonial patriots and their general, George Washington, lost that battle, and the tax controversies of the English parliament and King George III forced the English to set up shop on a deeper level during what many called the American Revolution.
Two small publications speak to issues like these. They were published by the last committee charged with celebrating the birthday of this nation. Something really positive is bound to emerge. We just haven’t developed an approach, a new and clean strategy. This will happen. We just don’t know how and when.
